What makes a mobile number special?
A special mobile number is an ordinary UK mobile number whose digits form a pattern you notice straight away. Silver numbers often have one clear feature that makes them easy to recognise, for example:
- 07423 333466 – four 3s in a row.
- 07542 477778 – four 7s in a row.
- 07867 750888 – a triple ending, 888.
- 07563 376633 – ends in two repeated pairs, 66 and 33.
- 07565 408090 – structured zeros: 40, 80, 90.
Not every Silver number has every one of these patterns. Each number is judged as a whole, and calls to it are charged as calls to any UK mobile.
Silver Numbers in the VIP Numbers range
Silver Numbers is one of the five tiers VIP Numbers uses to group part of its range – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. It is our own merchandising tier, not an official classification by Ofcom, the mobile networks or the wider industry. Compared with Bronze Numbers, which are usually memorable through repeated pairs, short repeated groups and rhythm, Silver numbers generally have a more prominent feature, such as a run of three or four identical digits or a triple ending. Gold Numbers are mostly built from structured groups, such as counting in tens or repeated blocks, and Platinum Numbers have stronger, more distinctive patterns again. These are general differences, not fixed rules or price boundaries.
Choosing a special mobile number
Say each number out loud and write it down. Points worth considering:
- Whether you prefer a run of repeated digits, a triple ending, repeated pairs or structured zeros.
- How easily it can be read out over the phone in two or three chunks.
- Which prefix you prefer, such as 07707, 07907 or 07706.

Special mobile numbers: common questions
Is Silver an official mobile-number category?
No. Silver Numbers is VIP Numbers’ own merchandising tier. It is not an Ofcom, mobile-network or industry classification.
What makes a Silver number special?
Silver numbers often have a noticeable pattern, such as a run of three or four identical digits, a triple ending, repeated pairs or structured zeros. There is no single mathematical rule: each number is judged as a whole, and not every number has every pattern.
Will I receive a PAC code?
Yes. After you buy a Silver number, we send you its PAC code. You activate a SIM with the UK network you choose and give them the PAC code so they can transfer the number to your SIM.
How quickly will I receive my PAC code?
We send your PAC code the same day during service hours (9am–9pm UK time, 7 days a week); orders placed after 9pm receive it the following morning. When you submit the PAC to your network before 5pm on a working day, the transfer normally completes by 6pm on the following working day.
How is Silver different from Bronze and Gold?
Bronze numbers are usually memorable through repeated pairs and rhythm, Silver numbers generally have a more prominent feature such as a run of repeated digits or a triple ending, and Gold numbers are mostly built from structured groups such as counting in tens. These are general differences between our own tiers, not fixed rules.
Our standard procedure for providing customers with mobile numbers is by issuing a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC). PACs can be used immediately and enable your mobile network to legally transfer your new mobile number within 24 hours.
